- Warmest temperatures and longest daylight hours
Fall Season (September - November)
- Fewer crowds
- Fall colors and wildlife activity
- Some facilities begin to close
- Weather can be unpredictable
- Many ranger programs continue through early fall
Winter Season (December - March)
- Limited road access (many roads closed to regular vehicles)
- Snowmobile and snow coach tours available
- Ranger programs available in:
- Mammoth
- West Yellowstone
- Old Faithful area
- Unique winter wildlife viewing opportunities
- Spectacular snow-covered landscapes
Spring Season (April - May)
- Roads begin to reopen
- Wildlife becoming more active
- Fewer crowds than summer
- Weather can be variable
- Some facilities may still be closed
