Kenai Fjords National Park Operating Hours & Seasonal Access
Year-Round Park Access
Kenai Fjords National Park maintains year-round operations, with peak season during the summer months of June, July, and August. Visitors should note that May and September offer limited services and facilities.
Visitor Center Operating Schedule
The park's Visitor Centers welcome guests from Memorial Day weekend (final weekend of May) until Labor Day (first Monday of September), barring special announcements or circumstances.
Exit Glacier Road Accessibility
For real-time updates on road conditions, visitors should consult the Current Conditions page. The Exit Glacier access road - the park's sole vehicular entrance - undergoes seasonal closures during winter. Vehicle access is restricted when snowfall covers the road, typically occurring between October and May annually.
Winter Recreation Opportunities
The winter season transforms Kenai Fjords into an ideal destination for cold-weather activities. Visitors can enjoy:
- Cross-country skiing
- Fat-tire biking
- Snowmobiling
- Other winter sports
Note: The park's coastal wilderness areas remain inaccessible from late autumn through early spring due to severe maritime conditions.
